With Valentine’s Day on a Sunday this year, there’s a whole weekend of wine love to be had! Here are some wines that I fell for recently that will fit every occasion:

The Ned Pinot Noir Rosé 2015, Marlborough, NZ.

I love this new one from New Zealander Ned. Flirty and soft, this is an extremely easy-drinking, ‘strawberries and cream’ pink that is good alone but has enough backbone to stand up to food.

Majestic, £10.99 or £8.99 when you buy 6 mixed bottles.

Byron Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County 2013, California, US.

A warm-blooded Pinot with beautiful, soft, plum compote curves and cherry blossom notes. Enough tang to be fresh and enough minerality and structure to love food – especially something like duck pancakes. Mmmm!

Slurp.co.uk £14.95

Domaine les Yeuses ‘Les Epices’ Syrah 2013, PGI Pays d’Oc.

A beautiful, perfumed Syrah from the Languedoc with just a bit of everything we love about the grape: a little violet, some grilled meat, lots of fruit and that moreish, medicinal note that French Syrah is so good at.

Majestic £8.99 or £7.49 when you buy any 6 bottles until 14th March.

Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2010, Kent, UK.

Nyetimber is one of the driving forces behind the increasingly fabulous reputation of English sparkling wine and this classy cuvée will not disappoint. 51% Pinot Noir 46% Chardonnay, this is a fresh, sherberty number with decent amount of fruit and brioche notes. Definitely NOT an overly acidic enamel stripper as some fizz can be!

£27.50 – £31.99 from The Wine Society,  MajesticWaitrose Cellar and other independent merchants.
